Despues de un dia de ordago, donde hemos bajado en trineo por la nieve de Apache Ski, Ruidoso, NM y luego hemos usado el mismo trineo en las dunas de White Sands Natural Monument. La camara siempre ha estado sobrexpuesta, para poder registrar la nieve y las dunas correctamente.
Manhana nos espera una larga jornada de carretera, pero esta noche lo celebramos todos juntos.

Ok, I’ve finally managed to install a ssh key in the server and I can use it from home. This was very important step towards the implementation of the secure upload of pictures from Pablo and Marta. I don’t want to see any more passwords flying around. Now Pablo and Marta can upload pictures to their websites with one button click. the main bottleneck was that the ssh keys needed to be created in the linux server, and the private key then imported to windows for Puttygen to convert it to something Pageant understands.
This was important to me, not to them, of course. Wait until the see their cameras on Thursday.
Other news: Marta and Pablo went ice skating on Saturday. Marta did score 10 points overall, Pablo only 5, and Pablo thinks he rocks at ice skating. Marta glides though it, but of course, she is always rollerskating with Lexi. She even knows how to tie her rollerskates, without my help… no “loop it, swoop it and you are done”. On the other hand, Pablo started playing Gamecube’s LEGO Starwars with Julian for the first time, using Gamecube controllers and he felt right at home. He spend a good three hours running through the Star Wars saga. The directional pad brought in by Sony Playstation seems to be a perfect fit for Pablo. So guess what they are getting for Xstmas…

And you are thinking, so what? Ok, this is a simple photo gallery (very simple), but the pictures are sorted by EXIF capture data time, not creation time or modification time. And you say again, so what? Pablo and Marta are both getting digital cameras this Xstmas, and the goal is to have a photoblog for each, where YOU can see what they see or deemed important. And it is capture time sorted, so the newest images are always at the top of the page.

And I did this on my way to work, in the bus!! A couple of google searches, a bit of racking my brain for that C class I got in '92 (for crying out loud, I am getting old!), and voila!
I should go home. Too much accomplished today already.

Hak5.org has very good podcasts. In one of them, they are surfing the internet on a laptop tethered to a blackberry. I was under the impression that BBs didn’t have a Dial-Up Network service in them. But I was proved wrong. I made it work in Windows XP and now in Vista 64. This means that I can work in the bus, really work in the bus. I can access license servers… I might be able to read e-mails from the HelpDesk. Man… freedom.
Well, accessing license servers is taking some serious time.
Now for the tough question, how secure this is? I am VPNing into the office right now, so this should be safe. Point to point. As for surfing, I am not going to download p*rn on a 55kbps connection.
Happy as a clam. And I thought that Vista 64 sucked… well, still does, but now a little less.
Uh, oh, and how did I do it?
You may setup your T-Mobile Internet device to use the T-Mobile Internet service by following the instructions below. Note, however, that T-Mobile cannot guarantee the performance of T-Mobile Internet devices that are not currently supported by the T-Mobile Internet Manager.
T-Mobile Internet with your BlackBerry 8700g and Windows XP
Prerequisite
RIM BlackBerry 8700g handset purchased from T-Mobile
PC with an available USB port
BlackBerry Desktop Manager software installed from accompanying CD. If the CD is unavailable, visit, t-mobile.com/bbupgradeand install the most recent version of Desktop Manager Software.
User should be logged in as Administrator or have administrator privileges in the profile to modify system files
Setting up the modem
1. On the PC, connect the USB cable from the USB port to the side of the handset. Windows will detect the handset and install the drivers.
2. Double click the Desktop Manager icon.
3. Click Options and then Connection Settings.
4. Click Detect.
5. When the Warning dialog box appears, click OK.
6. The dialog box should display: USB handheld found, click OK.
7. Ensure that the Connection field displays USB-PIN: and click OK.
8. Click Start, Settings, Control Panel and double click the System icon.
9. Click the Hardware tab and click the Device Manager button.
10. Click the + next to Ports (COM & LPT) and make a note of which COM port is assigned to the RIM Virtual Serial Port.
11. Return to the Control Panel and double click the Phone and Modem Options icon.
12. Click the Modems tab and click Add....
13. Check Don't detect my modem; and click on Next.
14. Click to select Standard Modem Types from the Manufacturer list.
15. Click to select Standard 19200bps Modem from the Models list.
16. Click Next.
17. Click to select the COM port assigned to the RIM Virtual Serial Port and click Next.
18. Click Finish.
19. Click once on the Standard 19200bps Modem and click oProperties.
20. Click the Advanced tab.
21. Type at+cgdcont=1,”IP”,”wap.voicestream.com” in the Extra initialization commands field.
22. Click OK twice to complete the setup.
Setting up the connection
1. On the PC, click Start, Settings, Control Panel and then double click Network Connections.
2. Click the link to Create a new connection.
3. This will open a New Connection Wizard. Click Next to begin the setup.
4. Click to select Connect to the Internet.
5. Click Next.
6. Click to select Set up my connection manually.
7. Click Next.
8. Click to select Connect using a dial-up modem.
9. Click Next.
10. Check the box to select the Standard 19200bps Modem.
11. Ensure it is the only modem checked and click Next.
12. For the ISP Name, type T-Mobile GPRS.
13. Click Next.
14. For the Phone number type *99#
15. Click Next.
16. If prompted, click to select whether you would like this connection available for Anyone’s use or My use only.
17. Click Next.
18. Ensure the User name,Password and Confirm password fields are blank.
19. Check to select from the available options below and click Next.
20. Click Finish to complete the setup.
Making the connection
1. On the PC, return to the Network Connections folder and double click the T-MobileGPRS icon.
2. Ensure that the Username and Password fields are blank.
3. Ensure the number to Dial is *99#
4. Click Dial .
You will now be connected to the T-Mobile GPRS service.

Another birthday, another cruel joke on daddy.
Pump It Up sucks. Kids run like crazy in a padded cell. Sweaty sock smell permeates the place. Bad muzak and worse catering. It seems that parents are trying to perpetuate the pain inflicted upon them by previous parents.
I can’t wait for that one to finish and move to the next one… Anadarko’s xstmas party. This year Huey Lewis is playing. If you don’t know who he is, you are either too young, too old or I am sorry for your teenage years listening to U2. I feel a rant coming up… I better make it short.
