Corporate Travel

Ok, here are some pictures of one of my last trips: Downtown Los Angeles. Destination: The Standard Hotel. There is nothing standard about it. Watch the movie Kiss Kiss Bang Bang (2005). The movie was shot at this hotel.

There is more, and there will be more, I promise.

But first, check the pic:

Motivational Speaker, Fluffer, AllHi…? Call me a coward because I didn’t dare to press these buttons, but…better yet, if you want to know what a fluffer is, just ask wikipedia.

The rest of the trip for glittering Bakersfield… so, no pics. The only highlights in Bakersfield are the waitresses of our restaurant. Coincidentally, our Bakersfield restaurant is always celebrating “Singles Night”.

Cheers

First Batch of Podcasts

In Alphabetical order:

7th Son: 7th Son is a free serialized audiobook. It chronicles the story of seven strangers who have been brought together after the recent assassination of the U.S. president. These men quickly discover they all appear to be the same man … with identical childhood memories. Unwitting participants in a human cloning experiment, these “John Michael Smiths” have been assembled to catch the man who murdered the president. Their target? The man they were cloned from; the original John Michael Smith, code-named John Alpha.Subscribe here

BBC NewsPOD: Half an hour of news and events from around teh world. Not the BBC Worldservice, but close.

LSAT Logic in Everiday Life: Studying for the LSAT requires a total adjustment to your typical way of thinking. “LSAT Logic in Everyday Life” gives you a headstart! In this weekly series, we apply the tools for dissecting flawed LSAT arguments to current events, showing how journalists, advertisers, and politicians all use flawed logic to prove their conclusions.

Manager Tools Podcast: Manager Tools is a weekly podcast focused on helping you become a more effective manager and leader. Each week we’ll be talking about new tools and easy techniques you can use to help achieve your management and career objectives. If you’re tired of a lot of management theory and would rather learn specific actions you can take TODAY to improve your management performance, we think you’ll enjoy the manager tools podcast.

NPR: Wait Wait Don’t Tell Me: Wait Wait… Don’t Tell Me! is NPR’s weekly hour-long quiz program. Each week on the radio you can test your knowledge against some of the best and brightest in the news and entertainment world while figuring out what’s real news and what’s made up. It takes more than a couple brain cells to make this show what it is… so let’s give credit where credit’s due.

and the number one podcaster, the one who started it all:

Scott Sigler produces podshows with lots and lots of violence :D
THE ROOKIE: SYNOPSES: Imagine a story that combines the intense football action of “Any Given Sunday” with the space opera style of “Star Wars” and the criminal underworld of “The Godfather.”

ANCESTOR: SYNOPSES: On a remote island in Lake Superior, scientists struggle to solve the problem of xenotransplantation — using animal tissue to replace failing human organs. Funded by the biotech firm Genada, Dr. Claus Rhumkorrf seeks to recreate the ancestor of all mammals. By getting back to the root of our creation, Rhumkorrf hopes to create an animal with human internal organs. Rhumkorrf discovers the ancestor, but it is not the small, harmless creature he envisions. His genius gives birth to a fast-growing evil that nature eradicated 250 million years ago — an evil now on the loose, and very, very hungry.

INFECTION: SYNOPSES: Perry Daswey is 6-foot-5, 265 pounds of angry ex-linebacker. He knows all too well that if he doesn’t control his quick temper, people get hurt. Through constant focus, he has locked his violent past away in the deep dungeons of his mind. The infection changes everything. Strange, microscopic parasites tap into Perry’s bloodstream like tiny little vampires. They start as bright orange blisters, but soon take the shape of triangular growths just beneath his skin. The “Triangles,” as Perry calls them, try to control their host by manipulating hormone levels and flooding his body with neurotransmitters – imbalances of which cause paranoia, schizophrenia and excessive aggression. As Perry begins a desperate battle to cut the Triangles out of his body before it’s too late, his self-control dissolves into raging, murderous madness.

EARTHCORE: The world’s first “podcast only” novel, EarthCore started it all. After picking up 10,000 listeners, EarthCore was released as a print novel from Dragon Moon Press.

First picnic and trekking

Huntsville

This is the preparation for Enchanted Rock, TX. We are going to Fredericksburg in May, and I want them to walk as much as possible. We are starting a series of hikes around our place, so when the time comes, I know how to tackle the kids and the walk. In this one, I carried Pablo and Marta on my back, just because nobody should walk after lunch.

Cheers, Carlos

google can help you every day

Sed buenos, y a recordar viejos tiempos

Carlos
